  • Always use proper safety around electricity, gas and other power sources when working on appliances.
  • Know the toll free number for your manufacturer. You can call for information about repairs, repair kits and other helpful tips and hints.

You can also find repair help for specific appliance. Below are some brief examples. For more, please contact us.

Dishwasher:

  • If it doesnt work when you close the door, check the door switch.
  • If it doesnt drain, check the drain hoses, the air gap and the belts. One of these may be clogged or need replacing.
  • If it doesnt run properly or drain properly, check to see if the motor is stuck.

Dryer:

  • If your dryer does not operate, check to see if the door switch is broken.
  • If there is not heat, check the igniter switch, the gas valve coils and the thermal fuse.
  • If your dryer is taking longer to dry or not drying the items properly, check for proper venting. Be sure vents and hoses are not clogged.

Washer:

  • If the washer doesnt work at all, make sure it is getting power and be sure the lid switch is working.
  • If it doesnt drain water out, check to see that there isnt a clogged drain pipe or water pump.
  • If there is no water, be sure the water is turned on to the washer and be sure the water inlet valve is working properly.

Stoves/Ovens:

  • If there is no power to the stove, check for tripped circuit breakers.
  • If the top elements dont work or only one is not functioning, the element and/or the receptacle could be broken and need replacing.
  • If the bake or boil elements are not heating, they may need replacing.

There are many more household appliances such as garbage disposals, microwaves and ranges and more. There are also more problems and repair tips than just the ones listed above. These are just some repair help ideas to get you started.
